24-hours reception, good personal, pretty good location, free wireless Internet.
Our room was not as good as I expected. But we needed only a cheap place to sleep and we got it.
The hotel is very close to Central Park and the 1, 2 and 3 subway lines which makes it a good place to stay away from the turmoil of downtown Times Square and surrounding. The neighborhood is quite and nice, lots of convenience stores nearby and restaurants.
Internet access although is free of charge only works in the lobby area even though there were wireless routers on each floor.
Good price, close to Subway, feels secure, a 24 hrs open grocery 2 blocks away
The girl at the reception was rude and not helpful. I tried to book another 7 days and she just said "no rooms", with no more help. The other men at least look at the computer and told me come back in 3 days. It was too hot (7th floor).
Great location and inexpensive for NYC. We stayed in a private room (room119) very close to the lobby so we managed to get the free WiFi in our room! Not a bed bug in sight and room was clean. Room had air con that worked. The bathroom was shared with only 2 other rooms. Bathroom was clean. The room was quiet.
The private twin room has bunk beds, and there were some stains on the bed-spread. The website said there was a ping pong table and billards but we were told the lounge was closed for refurbishing. We didn't see the garden either.
The man working in th reception in the morning monday the 5th of July. I think his name was Joe. He helped us so that we could "manage" to stay another night. I have taken photos/pictures regarding the cleaning that I will send to you for further discussions than I want to have here.
The inside of the rooms was clean.
The walls were thin and very loud all throughout the night.
very small room, there's just the space for the bed
don't care about what people say about in a bad way your experience can be different, it is a very clean hostel, nice location, close to the subway, good and clean washrooms, the perfect option for someone that want to have a nice bath and sleep in manhattan.
all i can say is that it was a place to lay my head down for the first night.
where to begin. i would not reccomend stayin here unless you def need somewhere to lay your head down. the lady that worked the front desk the morning i checked out was very very rude to me, i will never stay at this hotel again!
I didn't enjoy anything about my stay in the Fresh hotel and hostel and would not recommend it to anyone. I thought that the conditions were terrible and would certainly not take a family member to stay somewhere like that again. i thought that the hostel was very over priced considering the conditions we had to stay in and i am not happy with the outrageous rate which i had to pay.
Filthy place, small dirty room: walls, floor, window, "wardrobe" stinking, two broken hangers, air conditioning not working; no towel change, shared bathroom: shower and toilet in the same room, no toilet paper; staff unpleasant; such a place should never be recommended by Booked.net as standard is below zero even for backpackers. I have visited many countries on all continents and lived in NYC for three years. I did not suspect that such a den for tourists could exist in this city. It is degrading. In Europe people would never dare advertise such a place as a hotel/hostel/B&B, whatever. Stay away from this place as they do not charge much less than in a two- or even three-star hotel in NYC.
This hotel sucks! The pictures shown on line are fake, customer service sucks! It is unhygienic and a danger to health.
They should close this hotel or take it of the listing.
It is extremely spartan. In the room, there is a bed. If you put everything you have on the bed, you will be able to move around the room, barely. Get an early start on your day, and be very tired when you return.
I had stayed at the hostel previously when me and my companion were stuffed in a tiny room, roughly seven by ten feet in size. On this stay, we got a larger room with actual beds, as opposed to bunk beds.
The bathrooms were not cleaned properly and were falling apart (the toilet would often not flush properly, the shower handles were difficult to operate, the bathroom window kept falling down...). One member of the staff was extremely unpleasant, refusing to help me out, saying that she had a lot of work to do; however, what she was doing was sipping a Starbucks coffee. Based on this, I assume she did not work for the hostel but for Starbucks, since clearly a receptionist's job is to help the clients of the hostel.
I checked in late, and they had trouble locating a room. But they found one within 10 minutes and it was perfect for my needs (in at 11:15 pm out by 7:30 am). Location was perfect for a very Upper West Side meeting. This is a budget hotel for people who are used to public transportation and dorm rooms. It is not a Days Inn. Do not expect flowers in the lobby or a free breakfast.
I expected a bit of grunge, and I was pleasantly surprised that it was not nearly as bad as some of the reviews.
